#YALIEmpowersWomen - JULIE OBI'S INTERVIEW WITH US MISSION TO THE AFRICAN UNION

Seeing the women in her Nigerian community struggling to afford school fees, becoming single mothers at an early age, and lacking access to resources to take care of themselves motivated Julie Obi to make a difference. Julie was inspired to create an environment where women could thrive despite these challenges. She established Djuliesplace, a social enterprise that focuses on product development, social-economic empowerment, and entrepreneurship development program design. The initiative is designed to help women in rural communities cultivate their own innovative ideas and turn them into viable businesses.

Julie’s journey is not just about providing resources but also about fostering a supportive community where women can gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Through Djuliesplace, she offers training programs, workshops, and mentorship opportunities that equip women with the knowledge and tools to start and grow their businesses. This holistic approach ensures that women are not only able to support themselves and their families but also contribute to the economic development of their communities.

Julie is an alumna of the YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa program, which has further honed her leadership skills and expanded her network, allowing her to drive an even greater impact. Her dedication and innovative approach have made a significant difference in the lives of many women, paving the way for a brighter future.
